Pajamas
In our family we have a tradition of getting a new pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve. This year I would like to make the pajamas for my girls as well as for my husband & I. Do you guys have the same tradition? Have you made pajamas for your family before? Is there a pattern that you used or did you follow a tutorial?

Nice idea for a family tradition new pyjamas on christmas eve - might have to start that one up round here too... Thanks for the idea. (always looking for ideas like that for my family as when we were little we didn't celebrate it so trying to set up as many little special things as poss to make it special for my children)
We've had this tradition for many years! It's always the one gift to open on Christmas Eve. My MIL told she did it to make sure the kids all had on nice PJs christmas morning instead of ones that were all ratty. She had four boys before her two girls, so boys never did care about gross ratty PJs.
We also had this tradition. In fact, my aunt Sandra and uncle Skip always sent us pyjamas for Christmas, and that's the one we would open on Christmas Eve! It was a very sweet thing for them to do, now that I think of it. I love the idea. I don't have a pj pattern but there is an easy pants-for-kids tutorial that might work well. I'll find it for you. I used it to make a pair of shorts that worked out well. It's easy.
Here it is on Handy Home Projects.

Good luck with the tops!
This is a wonderful idea. The only pj type pants that I have made were using the Amy Butler Wide Leg Lounge Pants pattern from her INSTITCHES book. I had checked it out from my local library, and then used freezer paper to copy the pattern. They are so comfy.
I would love to hear any pattern suggestions for men's pj bottoms. I haven't gotten around to finding one.
i was thinking of making hobby horses (play horse on a stick) for my girls for christmas. does anyone have a tutorial or pattern for one?
The kids in our family have always received new pjs on Christmas eve. I'm making some pjs for my sister's birthday this september, too... I use McCalls 9505 for myself. I have a little pattern for nightgowns for toddler girls, too...
This is a tradition that I started with my girls and I love it. I always make sure the pjs are Christmas themed to make for good Christmas morning photos. :) I just got the Favorite Things Little Pajamas pattern. I haven't sewn them up yet, but it looks like a great little pattern.
I like to make pajamas for my girls too, last year I was literally sewing up until dinner time on Christmas Eve, but that is another story. This year my plan is to use this pattern by Oliver and S: http://www.sewmamasew.com/ccp0-prodshow/PTOSBSC.html. I think you could just do some pajama bottoms out of the same fabric for you and the hubs. I am debating that myself, if only I can talk the big man into wearing them....
Are you off sewing Christmas pj's now? I have always done Christmas pj's for my kids. This year I have yet to choose a fabric or stayle.
I just found your blog. A friend of mine is making some Christmas gifts from one of your posts and I just happened to read this one. We also get PJs for Christmas Eve. Before the in-laws came, we all had matching ones--and I'm the only girl, so they were mostly masculine. Now the girls all match and the guys all match. It works out well.
